Bioclimatic Pergolas

A bioclimatic pergola is basically a modern pergola with an adjustable roof, usually made from rotating aluminum louvers.

The clever bit is the roof. Instead of having a fixed fabric or solid cover, the slats can tilt open and closed:

Higher-end versions can also have motorized louvers, rain/wind sensors, LED lighting, retractable side screens, heaters, glass walls, and smart-home controls.
